 Commission Church Community Groups

Help Us To…

1. Love God

Our groups help one another love God by devoting ourselves to the teaching of the Bible as

we gather together as priests of the Living God (Acts 2: 42; 1 Peter 2:4-6).

As priests of God, we help one another recognize God’s authority and glorify him (1 Timothy 1:17).

2. Love People

We love people by encouraging one another and building up one another in the faith

(1 Thessalonians 5:11). We also love people by serving one another.

3. Be on Mission, Together

Together, we make disciples through going to proclaim the gospel, discipling one another, and

supporting the ministry of the church (Matthew 28:18-20).

Together, we declare the excellence of God who called us out of darkness and into his marvelous light (1 Peter 2:9).

Why Community Groups?

Commission Church community groups exist to fulfill our mission statement to “Lead One Another to Love God, Love People, and Be on Mission, Together.” We do this by giving each member an opportunity for deeper relationships within the church where people can encourage one another in the faith, support one another through difficulties, confess sin, and pray for one another, usually in the context of someone’s home. We see the precedent for the church to meet in both larger and smaller groups from the Bible.

Acts 2:42-47

“And they devoted themselves to the apostles; teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. And awe came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were being done through the apostles. And all who believed were together and had all things in common. And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need. And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved.”
